Paralympic gold medal curling winner Jim Armstrong from BC pleaded not guilty to trafficking in a Seatle court. The curlers imported counterfeit Viagra and Ceilis into the US and was arrested in Seatle in April. He is out on bail and awaits his July trial. If convicted he could face 10 years in prison as well as a $2 million fine. The retired dentist was working with his son who was also charged.

In other BC curling developments some good news emerged. Prince George, the city that hosted the Road to the Road pre-Trials event, managed to leave a curlung legacy of $111.487. A portion of the money wil be used to support curling in that area and about $80,000 went to the City.

On one of those cold, snowy days in May I was flipping through channels and came across the end of a show where the first person I saw was Russ Howard. Howard was standing at the end of a curling sheet where another 2 guys were imploring him to throw a high, hard one to the other end.

Russ agreed and the camera shifted to the other end of the sheet. In the opposite house a guy was laying on the ice, his legs wide open and he word a lot of padding between his legs.

You guessed it. Russ threw hard with his sweepers sweeping the stone right between the guys legs to land his stone on the guys stones. OUCH. I don't know what the show was but it was produced by the Outdoor Life Network - very bizarre indeed.

Let's have some fum in March 2011 and get sailing in the Caribbean aboard a ship that has real ice!

Hogline is working on a curling cruise that will feature the World Championship Short Game tournament. To make sure this goes we have to create a critical mass so the cruise line company will get behind this. You can help by visiting the Facebook The Floating Brier Patch sign up page. In less than the first 24 hours just over 200 curlers signed p and it is still growing. Check out the notable curlers who want to come with John Morris and Team Glenn Howard who are already on board.
